PHCC athleticsPHCC has a successful intercollegiate athletic program and is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Florida Community College Activities Association (FCCAA). The PHCC Conquistadors compete in the FCCAA Suncoast Conference in five sports: women’s volleyball, softball, and cross-country, and men’s basketball and baseball. A limited number of athletic scholarships are available for those selected for intercollegiate sports. Prospective students, as well as current students, who are interested in intercollegiate opportunities should contact the athletic director at the West Campus.

The volleyball program is admired throughout the nation for its winning tradition. Within the state, the program has proven itself to be a leading contender for the state championship every year. Volleyball reigns within the Suncoast Conference with thirteen consecutive conference titles and is on a run of eight straight NJCAA top 20 national rankings.

PHCC softball had four straight seasons of forty or more wins and four straight state tournament appearances from 1997 through 2000. The program has made a state tournament appearance in six out of the last eight years.

PHCC sealThe baseball program started in 1992. In just the third year of the program, PHCC finished runner-up in the 1994 FCCAA state tournament. In 1995, PHCC won the Suncoast Conference and made their second appearance in the state tournament. Over 20 players have signed professional contracts and many have gone on to top universities throughout the country.

PHCC basketball has seen its share of success with an appearance in the NJCAA national tournament. The program is an annual contender for the Suncoast Conference title and successfully moves its players onto four-year institutions.

Women’s cross-country, the newest program at PHCC, is entering its seventh season. The 2007 and 2008 teams won the PHCC Conquistador Academic Achievement Trophy for excellence in the classroom.

PHCC’s intercollegiate athletic teams frequently compete in statewide championship tournaments. The college is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Florida Community College Activities Association (FCAA) with teams in women’s volleyball, softball and cross-country and men’s basketball and baseball.
